So it is that I still find myself amongst breasts on my summer holiday.
Only a few steps onto the beach on my first day down here, I noticed a woman with a very brief top. As I walked past, she was adjusting the top so that it just covered her nipple. A bit low now. Now too high. At last just right. I do wonder why we bother. Why do we make so much fuss about a small round piece of darker skin?
In my two hour walk from Pt Roadknight to the Anglesea main beach and back again I saw a lot of breasts. So many different shapes and sizes. Young girls experimenting with their new figures and self-consciously trying out bathers that reveal enough but don't make them feel too exposed. Wondering whether these things will stay on. That's something we guys just never have to worry about. My favourite place here is a family beach. So you get lots of families and young teenagers. The older teenagers congregate on the main beach. So there are lots of mums who have got used to their breasts. They are not there to show them off, but like all of us, still like to look good.
Further up the beach beneath the cliffs it's a bit more secluded. Not so many people venture over here. One, it is dangerous near the cliff face and two, the water is deeper and not safe for young children. So here is also where you will find two or three top free young women on hot days. And so it was today.
Then there is the long hard to access beach between the two swimming beaches. I love walking along here. It is great meditation time.
At last the main beach. On a day like today at 35 degrees, this beach is a hive of activity. There is a wall of people at waist depth (about 50m from the waterline) from one end of the beach to the other. So many breasts. Seeing so many breasts makes you realise how normal they are. Normal as they may be, they are still beautiful. Not far along I see a women sitting cross legged in the shallows cuddling her naked young (maybe two year old) son standing next to her. As he runs off to get something I notice she is very pregnant with both her belly and her breasts noticeably swollen. There is something quite magical about pregnancy and pregnant women hold something of hope and beauty for all of us. It is wonderful to see such a powerful symbol of innocence and new life.
Altogether a lovely day.
